Outside
Unit:
- Wash air
conditioner with a liquid cleaning solution (water alone will not clean
out the coil, which is one to two inches thick).
- Check condenser
fan motor
- Check contactor
- replace as necessary
- Check condenser
coil for visual leaks and efficiency
- Check and
lubricate all necessary components
- Check to make
sure the unit is level - to avoid severe damage to the unit
- Check fuses
and disconnect box
- Check refrigerant
level to help determine if there is a leak
- Check both
suction and discharge pressures
- Check compressor
for proper and efficient cooling capabilities
- Check safety
controls
- Check electrical
connections and wiring
- Check copper
tubing for kinks or improper insulation
- Check voltage
and amperage draw on components
Inside
Unit:
- Check blower
motor in furnace
- Check air
filter
- Check condensate
drain for restrictions and leaks
- Check the
temperature difference between supply and return air
- Check thermostat
for proper adjustment
